Buc-ee’s aren’t all created equal. In fact, one Buc-ee’s has an extra row of pumps secretly tucked away behind the store.
Buc-ee’s continues to give Texans more and more reasons to love the brand. A TikToker has pointed out in a viral video that the janitors at Buc-ee’s make more than she does in her office job. Roxie Abernathy, who said she works as a case manager job, shared in another TiKTok that someone who operates the car wash at Buc-ee’s makes a lot more money than her.
Abernathy said it was sad for her to figure it out, stressing how she’s in no way sending hate to the positions at Buc-ee’s. She said, “These are all very important lines of work, but at the same time, I’m still in shock over this discovery that I made.”
“All love to janitors. I honestly might join you at this point,” Abernathy said in her viral video that has over 433,000 views as of Thursday, June 1.
In her second video about the jobs, Abernathy showed a photo of the hourly wages and salaries Buc-ee’s displays outside its stores. In the photo, it reveals how a car wash manager can make up to $125,000 a year, the restroom crew can start at $18 an hour, and a department manager can earn anything from $23 to $31 an hour.
And, the photo she displayed in her TikTok isn’t lying.
The lowest-paid employee at the Texas chain – grocery stockers, cashiers and maintenance workers – earn $16 an hour, according to the San Antonio Express-News. General managers at Buc-ee’s can make between $150,000 and $225,000. Those wages also come with benefits and vacation policies.
In the comments of her videos, many people mentioned how they know someone who works at Buc-ee’s and attest about the pay. Heather wrote, “My son works in food service at Buc-ee’s. Twenty dollars an hour, full benefits, 3 weeks paid vacation-use it, cash it, or roll it over.”
