MINSK, 22 June (BelTA) – The House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus played host to a meeting with head of the parliamentary group of friendship with Belarus in the Moldovan parliament Elena Beleacova, BelTA has learned.
The parties discussed issues on further interaction between the parliamentary friendship groups formed by the parliaments of Belarus and Moldova, as well as the prospects of bilateral inter-parliamentary cooperation.
“Belarus and Moldova have very good relations,” Nikolai Vasilkov, Chairman of the Standing Committee for Ecology, Nature Management and Chernobyl Catastrophe of the House of Representatives, head of the working group on cooperation with the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova in the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, said. “We have built up relations in the social, economic, cultural and humanitarian sectors. We have been actively cooperating in the field of interparliamentary contacts since 2012. Taking into account the ongoing geopolitical processes, mutual cooperation across all fronts has stalled a bit. In this regard, we have discussed and outlined ways to speed up inter-parliamentary relations for the benefit of the peoples of Belarus and Moldova.”
We need to approach all proposals thoughtfully and find a way out of the current situation, the MP stressed. “Today we are ready to intensify cooperation in all the areas, including trade and economy. We can continue our economic cooperation. We used to discuss and address issues in terms of supplies of trolleybuses, bitumen, building materials and other types of our products, including light industry. Today we are capable of resuming and accelerating these processes,” he added.
