Indian restaurants are here in Perth in abundance! Whether it be the north Indian buttery curries and naan bread or the south Indian vegetarian bean and lentil dishes and crispy dosas. Get your forks out for some of our favourite Indian restaurants in Perth:
Smack bang in the middle of all the Northbridge party action, Sauma is serving up some epic street food inspired by Chef Gurps Bagga’s childhood in Dehradun in India’s north. With plenty of share plates and lively atmosphere make this Indian restaurant perfect for your next group outing.
Their latest offering is a real feast to reckon with, drawing from the bold spices of Kerala with the Jumbo Thali: a huge platter loaded with panyaram (fermented rice and lentil cakes), Kerala-style fried chicken, chargrill chilli poppers, a creamy coconut fish curry, slow-cooked wagyu beef with cardamom and seasonal veg porial tossed with turmeric, ginger, grated coconut and crisp lentils. Grab your mates and dive into the flavour!

Combining the Western with the Indian, Curry Munchers is the perfect place to go for a flashy introduction to Indian food. Indulge in the ever-classic butter chicken and garlic naan or take the risk with some spicy chicken phall. Make Curry Munchers your starting point for a night out in Leederville.

This vegetarian restaurant specialises in south Indian food and is chock full of friendly service and (as you may have guessed) amazing dosa. Make sure to order their special cheese burst dosa with jalapeños optional if you’re looking to spice it up. While Indian food usually gets its rep through its mouth-watering dinner dishes, Dosa Xpress is also renowned for its hand-crafted paan ice cream rolls. Your night would be incomplete without them!
53 Labouchere Road, South Perth
Dine with the full cultural experience at Balti with cuisine that specialises in both north and south Indian food. One chef is from the north (Chundugi) and specialises in gourmet curries, and one is from the south (Nilambur) and specialises in fresh seafood dishes. Try their goat curry made with hot and spicy sauce and the chef’s own special choice of spices. You’ll be coming back for more later!
3/2 St Georges Terrace, Perth
Candle-lit with sidewalk tables, family-run Chakra is ready to make your date night a memorable one. They have separate menus for their vegetarian and vegan patrons where you can enjoy dishes like potato samosa cones and beetroot cauliflower fritters. Try one of their Indian-themed cocktails like the “Karma”, a saffron-infused drink with gin and cardamom bitters. The theme here: elegance with a side of spice.
839D Beaufort Street, Inglewood
You haven’t truly experienced Perth’s Indian food if you haven’t been to Mother India in Fremantle. This family-run Indian restaurant has been around since 1990 and has, over time, become a Perth favourite. With locally sourced produce, you can’t go wrong. Their butter chicken and Goan fish is a must-try for any curry fan.
23 Forrest Street, Fremantle
Authentic Indian cuisine with dishes to soothe your south Indian food-cravings. Their podi idli (steamed lentil cakes with spice powder) is worth doing a sharp double-take for. Madras Corner also offers a traditional South Indian breakfast tray if you happen to want your cravings settled early in the morning.

Editor’s Pick:
It would be too easy to cruise past North Perth’s Bollywood Spice, tucked away off Charles Street – but if you did, you’d be missing out. Fresh and full of flavour, we just can’t go past that mushroom tawa, any day of the week.
Shop 9, Village Square Shopping Centre, 299 Charles Street, North Perth
On the bustling, oh-so-cute Angove Street, you’ll find Namaste – opening in April 2021, the family-run restaurant has quickly made a name for itself as one of Perth’s primo spots for an Indian feed. Make sure to start with a couple of onion bhajis and let your heart guide you the rest of the way: from the creamiest kormas to some bangin’ biryani.
