Two more South Carolina restaurants are getting the title “America’s Best.”
The national social media network America’s Best Restaurants (ABR) announced Friday that two dining spots, both in Spartanburg County, will be featured on its social media platforms and its website, as well as the restaurants’ Facebook pages.
(ABR recently named a Greenville restaurant one of America’s Best. Watch that video above.)
ABA will be filming on location at the restaurants below:
At both restaurants, popular dishes will be highlighted, and owners will talk about the importance of their communities’ support.
Game Day BBQ owner Ryan Muller says menu hits at his place include the brisket grilled cheese sandwich – the number two seller after the classic pulled pork – and the Redneck Cubano, which consists of barbecue pulled pork, sliced pork loin, pickles, mustard barbecue sauce and pepper jack cheese. Popular “sideline favorites” include okra, sweet potato crunch, and collard greens.
“Our collard greens are fresh collards from North Carolina,” Muller says. “We try to make as much as we can from scratch, just like our Oreo banana pudding. We make it on the stove, just like grandma did, but we use vanilla Oreos instead of vanilla wafers.”
A popular downtown Greenville restaurant is featured in a different streaming series. More on that below.
Burgers & Bakery owners Deana and Mike Okin feature homemade burger buns, including a spicy version that Mike calls a six out of ten on the spice scale, smashburgers on a 750-degree grill and desserts with a European/Asian flair, making them a standout in Spartanburg.
“Spartanburg is an absolute burger town, Mike said. “We wanted to do something out of the box.”
Popular menu items that may be featured in the episode include The Big Tony Burger, which consists of a double burger with cheese, Carolina red sausage, pepperoni and bacon; or The Barnyard, made up of a beef burger, turkey burger, bacon, fried egg, and goat cheese. As for desserts, cheesecakes and the tiramisu are top picks. Eight to twelve selections per day rotate amongst approximately 450 that Deana can make.
The premiers of the finished episodes filmed at both Upstate restaurants will be announced on ABR’s Facebook page and will be featured on its website at a later date.
