Good morning.
They’ll give you the warm fuzzies and inspire you. Here are 5 stories to watch this long Christmas weekend, to bring you some cheer.
In Reaching The Unreached, a Mongolian doctor treks across the vast, snowy mountains to care for her 1,400 patients. Suvdaa rides horses and reindeer, sometimes up to 200km over days in tough, isolated terrain.

She’s seen toddlers growing up, the elderly on the verge of death, women giving birth. This winter, Suvdaa searches the frozen forests in search of a patient who recently had a stroke.
Also in the same series, a floating hospital treats patients in India’s most remote islands, nestled in the Brahmaputra river in the Himalayan foothills. There’s little infrastructure in this wild region, and the boat hospital’s doctors and nurses take on the daunting task of saving lives.
Then there’s Shermin Toh, whose quest for love was the subject of the talked-about series, Shermin’s March.
|
In this video update, the quirky 32-year-old single, who’d never had a date before making the show, has happy news for those wondering if it is possible to find love later in life. She answers fans’ burning questions, like: Is she still with Jay?
Amid the festive shopping, we wanted to highlight one retailer that’s taking pains to reach out to a sidelined group of shoppers: Those special needs, who struggle with crowds, loud music or physical limitations.
|
UNIQLO’s pilot initiative lets them book an assisted shopping service outside of regular opening hours at one of their stores. We get a blind shopper, twins with special needs, and an amputee to review how more retailers can become inclusive.
Finally, climate change isn’t exactly a cheery topic. But in this story set in Bali, where fishermen’s livelihoods are threatened by warming seas, one young man has a plan that may restore the island’s coral reefs and slowly bring back fish stocks.
This, here, is what hope looks like. Happy holidays!
