Startups from across the world have been selected for the four-month MassChallenge Israel mentorship program.
They were chosen by panels of leading experts who represented Israeli and global organizations, including Google and Microsoft.
Thirty-six of the startups are from Israel, the rest are from Nigeria, Colombia, Argentina and elsewhere.
The companies chosen cover industries ranging from healthcare and life sciences, energy and cleantech, foodtech and alternative protein, and hi-tech.
The Jerusalem-based program includes courses and workshops, and mentorship and networking opportunities. The 330 alumni companies of MassChallenge Israel have collectively raised over $1.2 billion to date, while creating over 17,000 direct and indirect jobs globally.
The Israeli startups include:
BeAir, which creates water out of thin air for areas with limited accessibility;
BotanoHealth, which offers all-natural organic pesticides and improves environmental safety;
Dormotech Medical, which monitors and diagnoses sleep disorders at home with a wireless device;
Poppins, a Netflix-like streaming service designed for autistic kids, with curated content;
PregnanTech, a non-surgical device for delaying preterm birth, aiming to reduce global rates of child mortality;
RedC Biotech, which is developing a process to produce universal red blood cells for life-saving medical interventions; and
TextRe, which turns textile waste into new recycled materials that can replace industrial materials with a high carbon footprint.
“MassChallenge emerged in response to the financial crisis of 2008. We have grown and evolved such that MassChallenge Israel is positioned to support founders as they face the current challenging economic markets and the lingering impact of the pandemic,” said Aaron Zucker, Executive Director of MassChallenge Israel.
“Today more than ever, early-stage startups must focus on building strong business fundamentals to allow these ventures to create a positive impact where it truly matters.
“While we continue to innovate around our program to meet this evolving environment, we remain committed to our mission that innovation knows no borders or nationalities.
“We are proud to attract and accelerate companies, ideas and a diverse group of founders dedicated to solving the pressing environmental, scientific, social and medical issues that affect the global community.”
MassChallenge is a nonprofit that accelerates startups worldwide. Since launching in 2009, more than 3,000 startups have participated in one of its programs.
