Our heads are still spinning after enjoying the spectacle and splendour of Moulin Rouge! The Musical in all of its glitz and glory.
Whether you can’t get enough of the sensual Parisian vibes or you’re getting into the spirit before you catch the show yourself, there are plenty of spots around Perth to channel the dazzling beauty and romance of the iconic Moulin Rouge.
When it comes to French dining in Perth, Le Rebelle leads the charge. This dimly-lit diner is all about refined classics with a signature Le Rebelle je-ne-sais-quoi – think glazed, glistening Wagin duck with frites and béarnaise, perfectly piped chicken parfait with golden slices of brioche, the all-time-classic crab toast or the aptly named “le burger”… All accompanied by a classic cocktail, bien sûr!
676 Beaufort Street, Mount Lawley
Whether you’re popping by for some œufs in the AM or a seductive late-night bite, East Freo’s newest addition La Lune is practically synonymous with an understated sense of Parisian glamour. Perch at a table under the George Street awning and nibble away on a bowl of moules-frites or that decadently juicy steak frites as you watch the world go by – or spend your evening in one of the restaurant’s intimate corners, sipping away at a carafe du vin with your lover.
73 George Street, East Fremantle
Descend into Bobèche’s seductive cocktail den and you’ll feel like you’ve stepped back in time to a bohemian basement in the 18th arrondissement. Red velvet curtains, pressed tin, dimly-lit lamps and leather sofas set the scene, while those playful cocktail teapots imbue the evening with plenty of whimsy – and a bit of mischief, too!
While they have a very appropriate for the occasion cocktail named the Red Mill, a sip of the Green Muse – made with gin, elderflower, grapefruit and absinthe – will have you under the spell of the green fairy.

Where Bobèche is all late night, subterranean glamour, Vincent is leafy courtyard charm. They may not bill themselves as strictly French, but we think the steak tartare, rillette, parfait and steak frites say otherwise… And we’re saying “oui!” in reply. Libations, which like the menu are oft-rotating, similarly lean French. Ooh la la!
465 William Street, Perth
With its Art Deco train compartments and aperitivo-inspired menu, Volare manages to make its way across Europe’s coastal cities. And while it may be more Marseille than Montmartre, we can’t resist this cosy Maylands bar’s timeless, romantic allure – especially when you factor in that absinthe fountain!
198 Whatley Crescent, Maylands
