RAMSTEIN AIR BASE, Germany – The 86th Comptroller Squadron won the 2021 General Larry O. Spencer Special Acts and Services Award for completely overhauling delivery of customer service to newcomers and providing dynamic resource management during Operation Allies Refuge and Operation Allies Welcome. The squadron directed the second largest Air Force finance operation by resolving 21,000 virtual and walk-in inquiries and rectifying $25 million. Airmen in the squadron dedicated 213 hours of humanitarian efforts that assisted with nine medical evacuation transports. The award honors Spencer’s 35-year history of financial of management and comptrollership. Spencer served at all levels of leadership to include Numbered Air Force and the Joint Staff. He served as the Vice Chief of Staff of the Air Force and implemented the Every Dollar Counts initiative, empowering Airmen to find more cost effective ways of accomplishing the mission.
