Home Prices in the Netherlands See Biggest Drop in a Decade
Demand is falling in the Netherlands, causing prices to decline. The average sales price of a residence there fell by 6.26% in 2022, a figure that was adjusted for inflation. It was a sharp fall from the nearly 14% increase registered in 2021, and is the worst price decline for the country in a decade. In addition, the number of residential deals was down 14.6% year over year, following a decline of 3.3% in 2021 and growth of 7.7% in 2020, according to Statistics Netherlands. Global Property Guide
Michael Wilford, a British Architect Known for His Postmodern Designs, Dies at 84
British architect Michael Wilford—best known for his colorful postmodern designs created with the late architect James Stirling—died this week at the age of 84. Wilford’s projects included the Tate Liverpool, a warehouse conversion that now has orange columns along the facade, and No 1 Poultry, a pink-and-yellow, limestone-clad building that was Grade II* listed in 2016 following a preservation campaign. Historic Home in Sydney Suburb Lists for Between A$12 Million and A$13 Million
One of the oldest homes in the Sydney suburb of Mosman, New South Wales, Australia, has hit the market with a guide price of A$12 million and A$13 million (US$8.02 million and US$8.68 million). Known as Allowah, the more than 13,000-square-foot residence dates to 1881 and has intricately tiled and French oak floors, custom cabinetry, rough-hewn stone walls and open fireplaces, as well as a library. Canadian Home Prices Fall for 10th Consecutive Month
Home prices in Canada fell 0.3% in February, the 10th consecutive month of declines, according to the Teranet-National BankTM Composite House Price Index. However, the monthly drop was less significant than the 1.1% decrease registered in January, the data showed. Toronto and Calgary saw the biggest declines, down 2.7% and 2.4%, respectively.
