Online game modes will be available to all from August 27-28
Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced plans to hold a free PlayStation Plus online multiplayer weekend.
Online multiplayer modes for PS4 and PS5 games will be accessible without a PlayStation Plus subscription from August 27-28.
Players who want to participate in the promotion will need a PlayStation Network account.
August’s PlayStation Plus games are Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 (PS5 / PS4), Yakuza: Like a Dragon (PS5 / PS4) and Little Nightmares (PS4). The three games are available for subscribers to claim until September 6.
Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 are scheduled to be made available soon as part of August’s Game Catalog line-up for PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members.
Also coming later this year for PlayStation Plus Premium members are Yakuza 3 Remastered, Yakuza 4 Remastered and Yakuza 5 Remastered, while Yakuza 6: The Song of Life will be made available for Extra and Premium members.
SIE boss Jim Ryan has said the company hopes to grow the PlayStation Plus subscriber base from 47.4 million last fiscal year to 50 million during its current fiscal year ending in March 2023.
During the company’s first quarter ended in June, the PlayStation Plus subscriber base declined by 100,000 members to 47.3 million, Sony said last month.
It also reported a significant decline in PlayStation Network monthly active users. The total stood at 102 million, down from 105 million a year earlier and 106 million in the previous quarter.
