This Father’s Day, check out also the story of another dad, Danial, who – like many of us – set out with the best intentions to not give his 2-year-old any screen time. But that resolution slipped.
So, when his son developed a speech delay, Danial wondered: Was it his fault for letting him watch TV? I related so much (as a mother of a toddler) to this dilemma – and it was revealing to learn from the experts I talked to that not all screen time is bad; there are ways to use it beneficially.
I also met Ivy, who’d set out to be a chill mum, but ended up having to forcibly hospitalise her daughter for an eating disorder. It’s a tale of parental necessity, of sometimes doing what you hate out of love.
And there’s Wai Jia, whose passion for humanitarian work took her away from her kids for nearly 2 months. Could she do that and still be a good mum?
I hope this podcast sheds new light for you on what it means to be a parent, and the challenges and sacrifices we face for our children.
