Canada’s Home Prices Are Expected to Rise After All in 2023
Home prices in Canada are expected to rise 4.5% year over year in 2023, Royal LePage said Thursday, reversing its previous forecast of 1% annual decline. The brokerage’s CEO Phil Soper said high employment and low supply contributed to the change in the forecast. As the Bank of Canada announced Wednesday that interest rates will hold steady at 4.5%, first-time buyers are now entering the market since rates seem to have achieved some stability, Mr. Soper said. This year, Toronto and Vancouver will see 7.5% and 2.5% price increases, respectively, according to Royal LePage’s new forecast. Global News
