Abercrombie & Kent has drawn on its more than 30-year experience delivering adventures across Australia and New Zealand to bring a refreshed and exciting portfolio of local travel.
From the untamed wilderness of Australia’s Outback to the natural wonders of scenic New Zealand, A&K’s guests can discover unique and lesser-known locations while exploring the familiar in luxury on its newly released small group journeys in 2022/23.
The trips have an average group size of 6-12 guests traversing expertly designed itineraries, packed with the kind of authentic ‘Insider Access’ opportunities and handpicked distinctive accommodation mostly unavailable to larger groups.
Here are just some of the A&K journeys available for Aussie and Kiwi travellers this year:
Guests can witness the beauty of the outback on a sunrise hot air balloon flight over the McDonnell Ranges, discover the majesty of Kings Canyon with a scenic rim walk and the verdant Garden of Eden, and then admire the ever-changing colours of Uluru from their luxury accommodation at the celebrated Longitude 131˚.
Quests will also learn about the spiritual and cultural significance of Uluru, experience the renowned Field of Light and dine under a blanket of stars as they hear about the southerly constellations.
The epicurean flavours of Flinders Island are showcased by private charter flight and of Bruny Island by ferry. There are a myriad untamed landscapes and heritage-listed natural wonders to admire, from Lake St Clair and Cradle Mountain to Freycinet National Park.
Guests can see inspirational conservation work up close on a privileged insider access visit to the AKP-supported Raptor Refuge and dive into the thriving creative scene from Mona to Risby Cove Gallery and the art town of Sheffield.
Experience the magic of winter on New Zealand’s scenic South Island – home to spectacular landscapes, action-packed adventure, and world-famous wines, all set against a stunning backdrop of the snow-capped Southern Alps.
Guests journey from Christchurch to the adventure playground of Queenstown, explore the beautiful Aoraki/Mount Cook region by helicopter and enjoy a Big Sky Stargazing experience plus see Milford Sound by sea and air, go jet boating in Mt Aspiring National Park and relax in a Japanese inspired onsen flanked by the snow-covered Remarkables Mountain Range, staying in luxurious accommodation along the way including The George, Hermitage Hotel and The Rees.
Guests will wine and dine in some of the most picturesque locations in New Zealand on this decadent foodies’ adventure including feasting on fresh seafood direct from the waters of the Marlborough region, blending their own signature bottle of Sauvignon Blanc and travelling to the top of Mt Fyffe by helicopter for a picnic lunch with stunning views of the Kaikoura Peninsula.
Guests will enjoy a farm-to-table cooking experience with a MasterChef NZ finalist, witness whales and dolphins on a scenic cruise and enjoy several indulgent experiences in Queenstown including a progressive dinner.
