Climb a caving ladder, abseiling off a bridge, carry an aircraft bomb or evacuating an injured person: German, Belgian and French teams competed at the Military Challenge 2022.
On 19 and 20 October 2022, the Luxembourgish Army organised the ninth joint military challenge in the Lultzhausen/Insenborn region.
The roughly 17-kilometre track included more than 14 land obstacles. The course was run in four-person teams and the distance between the obstacles had to be covered on foot.
132 athletes signed up for the challenge. Among the 34 teams to take up the challenge were 19 teams from the Luxembourgish Army, including five members from the civilian personnel, the Luxembourg Police, the Customs and Excise Agency, the Grand Ducal Fire and Rescue Corps (CGDIS), and the Directorate of Defence, as well as teams composed of German, Belgian, and French units.

The challenge started at 8am. The challenges were tough: performing a death ride over 110m at an altitude of 10m above the lake, climbing a caving ladder, abseiling off a bridge, changing outfits, carrying an aircraft bomb, evacuating an injured person, archery, sawing logs, braving a bush bridge, simulating a boarding and throwing grenades at targets, forming a human ladder to ring a bell, and moving prepared logs. A parkour for hardcore champions, no doubt about it.
Ultimately, the winners of the parcour were members of the Belgian Royal Military Institute of Physical Education.
