Households should receive effective assistance to alleviate the loss of purchasing power, according to the Luxembourg Association of Bank and Insurance Employees (Aleba).
Aleba expects the upcoming tripartite negotiations to lead to long-term measures that will help households mitigate the loss of purchasing power.
In a statement released on Thursday, the trade union stated that another wage indexation in 2022 is “unavoidable”. However, Aleba contends that it is high time to reform the wage indexation system, “even if only temporarily, in order to prevent any further deferrals, especially for those who need it most.”
Aleba reaffirmed its demand that the indexation system be staggered to account for different salary brackets.
