The Alibaba Group’s online marketplace, AliExpress, has introduced several logistics updates including five selection warehouses and nine domestic automated sorting centers in China, alongside launching 80 weekly flights and a last-mile self-pickup network of 20,000 units in France, Spain, Poland and Russia.
These updates were planned in partnership with Cainiao, Alibaba’s logistics arm, to speed up dispatch times. Specifically, the improved cross-border e-commerce ecosystem was introduced ahead of the 11.11 Global Shopping Festival to enable the company to offer overseas customers area-specific delivery deadline guarantees for shipments from China. Between November 11 and November 30, AliExpress will have more than 300 chartered flights in total to ensure customers receive their packages on time. With these adjustments, AliExpress can now offer 10 working days delivery for orders made in Spain and France, 12 working days for Brazil and five working days for South Korea.
AliExpress will also introduce an ‘On-time Guarantee’ in Spain and France ahead of the 11.11 Global Shopping Festival. This service will be available for any orders shipping from Cainiao warehouses overseas, and ensures that any late packages are automatically reimbursed with a US$1 coupon. Additionally, to provide last-mile delivery, a network of over 20,000 self-pickup collection points and lockers has been launched in Spain, France, Poland and Russia which will be operated by Cainiao and local partners.
Wang Mingqiang, general manager of AliExpress, said, “We can now help our sellers deliver popular products within an efficient delivery time to Europe and Latin America. As we implement this enhanced supply chain network ahead of the 11.11 Global Shopping Festival, we are thrilled to be delivering goods faster and more reliably with no additional cost for our valued customers.”
