Switzerland is famed for its chocolates. And if you are looking to indulge in the best chocolates of the nation, look no further than Lindt Home of Chocolate. By Ralan Kithan
It’s hard to resist the temptation of a good Swiss chocolate. It’s harder, still, to resist a bite of Lindt chocolates. And the best of this cocoa goodness awaits at The Lindt Home of Chocolate. When at the Lindt Home of Chocolate, you are sure to experience more than just a taste of chocolate!
Home to renowned master chocolatiers, the Lindt Home of Chocolate boasts of having the biggest Lindt chocolate shop in the world — spanning roughly 500 square metres. It also houses Switzerland’s very first Lindt Café, and a Chocolateria for courses in chocolate making. All three cocoa havens are operated by the subsidiary Lindt & Sprüngli Schweiz AG.
What’s more — the museum at Lindt Home of Chocolate, the Kilchberg at Schokoladenplatz 1, is one of the most popular museums in Switzerland. No wonder, then, the museum recently recorded its 5,00,000th visitor since its debut in September 2020.
When at the Lindt Chocolate shop, don the role of Willy Wonka! You can create your own exclusive chocolate bar, or even design your own personal praline packaging as you watch a real Lindt Master chocolatier put the final touches to the mouth-watering delicacies.
The Lindt Home of Chocolate also includes a production line with an open view, a research facility, and a 1,500-square-meter immersive exhibition on the world of chocolate.
To illustrate the chocolatier’s journey, there are several interactive exhibits and life-like illustrious models at Lindt Home of Chocolate. From cocoa pod cultivation to its transformation into exquisite, fine chocolate, you can get a first-hand understanding of chocolate history. The exhibition also gives a peek into some of the secrets of chocolate production.
The facility is accessible to universities, research institutions, and chocolate makers and combines the most flexibility and usefulness with the best quality execution.
After learning the art of chocolate-making, you can finish the trip at the tasting room. Here, a variety of chocolate masterpieces are ready to be sampled and consumed. Or head to the café where sweet and savoury delights — like fresh handmade waffles, ice creams topped with chocolate sauce, hot chocolate and more — await. After all, what better way to end a chocolate-filled adventure than by sampling some of its sugary goodness?
But that’s not all! A highlight for all chocolate lovers visiting Lindt Home of Chocolate is the chocolate fountain. Stand and marvel at 1,500 kilograms of chocolate plunging from over nine metres. And don’t forget to wipe that drool off your face!
