Amazon Web Services (AWS) has launched a cloud infrastructure region in Jakarta, the company's first in Indonesia, in deepening its domestic market presence.
AWS, a subsidiary of American tech behemoth Amazon, said on Tuesday it would invest roughly US$5 billion in Indonesia over the next 15 years to develop and operate the data centers that make up the AWS Asia-Pacific (Jakarta) Region.
AWS infrastructure services vice president Prasad Kalyanaraman said the new facility would "help institutions, innovative start-ups and world-leading companies in Indonesia deliver cloud-powered applications to become a motor for economic development.”
