Teorema Mediterraneo consists of an all-female team who works hand-in-hand between two plants equipped to process its processed fruit and vegetable production lines.
“We produce Teorema Mediterraneo’s processed fruits and vegetables in a dedicated area of the plant, along with the entire line of dehydrated seasonings for pasta, ready-to-eat risottos, seasonings, spices and herbs,” said Rossella Spatola, a young entrepreneur and owner of the company.
In a separate but adjacent area, the company makes its Genigià-branded processed products, consisting of 100% natural vegetable spreads, fruit extracts, and food preserves made from fresh, seasonal vegetables without preservatives, and sterilized.
“That’s how we created a small production hub, where customers can choose from various product lines.”

Teorema Mediterraneo was born from the experience gained by the founder within the family business, which specializes in drying fruit and vegetable products. The brand produces several lines including dehydrated vegetable blends for pasta, ready-made risottos, spices and herbs, kits and gift boxes, sweet spreads, vegetable jams and creams, seeds and berries, herbal teas and infusions.
“I left the old location of the family business,” recalls Rossella Spatola, “and moved to the industrial area of Nocera Superiore, intended also for production. This is how Teorema Mediterraneo’s Sole e Maccheroni line was born. It includes dehydrated pasta seasonings, seasoned risottos, flavored salts and sugars, seasoned pasta, soups and velvety soups, crunchy fruits.”
The line was presented for the first time at Tuttofood Milan 2021.
Teorema Mediterraneo’s start has been excellent in terms of market appreciation and service, especially with sales across its two main markets and channels, namely domestic and overseas in the tourism segment.
“At the moment, the areas where we sell our products the most are the Amalfi Coast, Apulia, and the area of Le Cinque Terre, which absorbs about 60 percent of our production. This is a very fast-moving market that is highly responsive, especially because we personalize the products with dedicated labels depicting world-famous tourist locations and tourist attractions. Therefore, visitors buy the typical food and wine product as if it were a souvenir.”
As is well known, typical processed foods rank second, behind art, on the list of attractions of Italy, and at the top of the list of appreciation by those who visit the country. This extends to Italian vacationers and, in detail, is worth 16 percent of all tourist spending.
“In June 2022 we made an investment in the U.S., following an agreement with our broker in America, and set up a booth to participate in Fancy Food 2022 in New York. The goal was to enhance made-in-Italy production abroad. Thanks to the fair, we received positive feedback for almost all the product lines that were presented. That’s how we got our first orders placed overseas in September.”
Teorema Mediterraneo’s sweet line, called Fruits and Spices, includes jams in seven flavors: Orange and Cinnamon, Orange and Chia Seeds, Lemon and Mint, and Lemon and Ginger, available in 220-gram glass format. The new line of artisanal spreads comprises the following flavors: Pistachio, Hazelnut, Milk and Hazelnut, Lemon, Dark, White Chocolate, Peanut Butter and Coconut. No pectin or preservatives are used; only fresh fruits, lemon juice, spices and/or vegetables and sugar.
“Aiming at the quality of every single ingredient, is very challenging, because it means having control over the entire production chain. This is especially true at this particular time, where it is difficult to find raw materials, to the point that we are sometimes forced to modify/change recipes due to our availabilities. To date, we have already doubled our 2021 turnover. In addition to marketing products in the U.S., we are also present in Belgium, Germany and Switzerland. Another growing channel is online, especially B2B platforms, which sell directly to small stores in Europe, while third-party sales account for 10 percent of production in Italy,” concluded Rossella Spatola.
