Animal rights protesters have stormed a Perth restaurant after it controversially banned vegans following a customer complaint about the lack of meat and dairy-free options on its menu last month.
Notorious protester Natasha Peterson was filmed on Friday night entering Fyre in Connolly and shouting at diners and UK celebrity chef owner John Mountain.
“The sound you hear now are pigs screaming for their lives inside carbon dioxide gas chambers, you’re responsible for their murder if you are not vegan.
“You have blood on your hands, psychopaths.”
Peterson was accompanied by other protesters holding signs and chanting.
Staff and an off-duty police officer were forced to physically remove the group from the restaurant, with the diners eventually applauding the chef once the chaos was over.
“We were met with a lot of resistance and physical assault as well, I was grabbed by the neck, I have bruises on my arms and scratches,” Peterson told 9 News Perth.
“I think if a restaurant banned gay people, or Muslims, or women, there would probably be public outrage and disagreement with that, but of course it’s different when it comes to vegans.”
Mountain, who has gone viral since announcing he had banned vegans, said business at his restaurant had since tripled and he was booked out for the next five weeks.
“This is my train set, and if you don’t want to play on it, f— off, it’s simple, this is my train set, my business,” he said.
“These people they’re just drama llamas, well not drama llamas, they’re going to be like drama sunflowers.”
