Anker has launched its latest dongle – the Nebula 4K streaming dongle. The gadget runs on Android TV and bundles a Google remote. The launch is coming after it was predicted earlier this year that this was already in the works. The use of the Android TV dongle has been on the increase in recent times, and Anker will hope to tap from this surge with the release of the Nebula 4K streaming dongle.
The design of the Nebula Android TV dongle reveals the absence of a built-in cable. However, it offers a micro-USB port for power and an HDMI port for display. The ports are located on the two sides of the dongle. The package includes the dongle, the remote, a micro-USB cable, an HDMI cable, a power brick, as well as two AAA batteries for the remote.
The Google remote uses Google’s G10 reference design which is quite impressive. The shortcut buttons on the device are for YouTube, Netflix, Prime Video, and Disney+. The Nebula Android TV dongle has 2GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. It runs on Android 10 and supports HDR, 4K, and HDMI 2.1 output. The audio output of the device is compatible with Dolby Digital Plus audio.
While we are in the dark of the processor powering the Nebula Android TV dongle, it could be on the high end of the spectrum, as the price of the new product is higher than its competitors.
The Nebula TV dongle is already on sale via Amazon with a price tag of $89.99. Some of the current models available in the US market with similar specs are priced as low as $29. Even the Chromecast which has the upgraded Google TV UI is sold at $49. It remains to be seen how Anker hopes to catch the attention of the consumers with this fairly pricey offering.
