I've been discovering a whole new world over the past month as I turn into someone that I've dreaded becoming – an early riser.
I wake up at 4 AM to make it into work here in Brookfield for 5:30, and usually I have the whole stretch of 202 to myself from Torrington all the way to New Milford. When I hit New Milford at 5, there's one place in town that's already jumping. The Citgo/Dunkin' at the corner of East St/202/67 is always packed. Is there something special in them donuts?
The line of F250's and massive box trucks out there this morning was amazing. Not a soul in sight anywhere else in town at 5 in the morning, except this place, every day. There are only a few that open up before 5, something that needs to be remedied. What is it about the smaller towns surrounding Danbury, Waterbury, and Torrington? 24 hour services need to be extended into Southbury, Middlebury, Brookfield, and Litchfield.
I stop at the 4 Corners Shell and Mobil in Brookfield, they open at 5, but there are no 24 hour stores, even with all of the expansion and building around that area. Drive-thru services are still throttled in quite a few suburban communities too. Imagine if there were a Dunkin' drive-thru in Bridgewater? Right on 133? The horror!
I just wanted to shout out a hard-working early riser that I see everyone appreciating. This one's for you, the staff at the Citgo/Dunkin', New Milford truly does run on you.
