The area was immediately cordoned off on Tuesday. In the meantime, it has been confirmed by the police that there were indeed body parts. The parts were found in hedges, not far from a car park. The Luxembourg police were also involved in the large-scale search operation. The identity of the victim has not yet been revealed.
The Trier media “News TR” reports that the legs and the head of a body were found, which the police have not yet confirmed.
The assumption by the media that the body parts belong to a woman from Diekirch, is not yet confirmed either.
The Trier judicial police took over the investigation. On Wednesday, the area was again searched by around 100 police officers. Many trees were cut down, a drone and dogs were used to help the search.

Since 5 October 2022, a 48-year-old man has been in pre-trial detention at Schrassig prison. The man is accused of murder by the public prosecutor’s office. The link between the two cases is now being examined by the German police, according to the Trier police spokesman.
