An Austrian manufacturer of high-tech industrial machinery plans to establish its first U.S. facility in upstate South Carolina, state and company officials announced.
Kostwein said it produces machines, modules, and high-tech components for global leaders across numerous fields of machine production. The company, which marked its centennial last year, currently operates facilities in Austria, Croatia, and India with a combined workforce of about 1,200. Officials said its new factory in Greenville would increase its overall manufacturing capabilities.
Kostwein expects to invest $8.5 million in the new plant. The project is expected to be completed by March and create 95 new jobs.
South Carolina economic development officials approved an undisclosed amount of tax incentives to support the expansion, as well as a $300,000 grant to assist Greenville County with project costs.
“The company is a recognized leader in the complex machinery manufacturing landscape, and a welcome addition to both our community of international companies and our advanced manufacturing ecosystem,” Willis Meadows, the chairman of the Greenville County Council, said in the announcement.
