Adventures in English with Cambridge is designed by experts in Cambridge to help young learners practise their English language skills.
Adventures in English with Cambridge is designed by Cambridge Assessment English, a department of Cambridge University in collaboration with Microsoft. The game is packed with puzzles to help young learners practise their English language skills in a fun, interactive and immersive way. Children can use the world to learn new words, get creative and solve problems.
“As more and more Minecraft players and families download educational maps to play at home, we are excited to offer this top-tier language learning content to the broader Minecraft community,” said Allison Matthews, Head of Minecraft Education. “This world takes English language immersion beyond the classroom into a magical Minecraft library full of mini games, with a fairy sidekick. Players everywhere are going to love it.”
The team in Cambridge who worked on the new world are the same experts who produce the world-famous Cambridge English Qualifications, taken by millions of people every year around the world. ‘Adventures in English with Cambridge has been built in Minecraft to help children learn English while playing a game they love,’ commented Belinda Cerdá, Head of Digital Partnerships at Cambridge Assessment English. She continued: ‘Young learners exploring our world will be able to practise their English skills, have fun and start a learning adventure they will never forget.’
The game focusses on real-life communication and vocabulary skills, at a basic level, equivalent to level A1 and above of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), the international standard for describing and comparing language ability. The game can be enjoyed by children and adults as part of their English language learning journey.
Adventures in English with Cambridge is the first education game available to buy in the Minecraft Marketplace. At the end of last year the game won gold in the K12 category at the Reimagine Education awards, the largest awards programme for educational innovators around the world.
Adventures in English with Cambridge can be played on any device including desktops, tablets and games consoles. The game is available to buy now on the Minecraft Marketplace: https://aka.ms/adventures-in-english
