Following a meeting of the World Curling Federation Board, the decision was taken to continue not to allow participation of Belarus and Russia from World Curling events until 31 December 2023.
Both Member Associations had previously been excluded from participating in World Curling events until the end of the 2022-2023 season. This has now been extended following concerns that their involvement would damage the integrity of the events due to the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
The two Member Associations have been excluded from upcoming events using Rule C1(b), which states:
“The Board of the WCF may remove a team or Member Association from any WCF event if in the sole opinion of the Board their presence at the event would damage the event or put the safety of the participants or the good order of the event at risk.”
The Board are continuing to monitor Member Association and athlete concerns relating to the conflict and reserve the right to revisit their decision if required.
