MOSCOW, 17 August (BelTA) – Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Leonid Zayats and Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Sergei Bartosh met with Russian Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev in Moscow on 17 August to discuss cooperation between Belarus and Russia in the agro-industrial complex, BelTA learned from the Russian Ministry of Agriculture.
“The parties discussed mutual trade in agricultural products and food,” the press service of the ministry said. Dmitry Patrushev congratulated Sergei Bartosh on his appointment as minister and expressed confidence that his work would contribute to further strengthening of cooperation between the two countries.
It was stated at the meeting that mutual trade between the two countries in the agro-industrial complex was expanding, posting an increase by 34.5% last year. Upward trends continue this year, with the trade going up by 5% in H1. “This confirms the high level of cooperation between our countries in agriculture,” the Russian ministry emphasized.
The parties also considered issues related to cooperation between the supervisory agencies and agreed to hold a joint meeting of the collegiums of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry and the Ministry of Agriculture of Russia this year.
According to the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry, during the visit to Moscow, Leonid Zayats and Sergei Bartosh together with Belarus’ Ambassador to Russia Dmitry Krutoi paid a visit to the pavilion of the Republic of Belarus at VDNKh. They got familiar with the range of products manufactured and sold by Belarusian business entities at the Moscow exhibition.
