GRODNO, 10 August (BelTA) – State Secretary of the Security Council of Belarus Aleksandr Volfovich took part in a session of the Grodno Oblast Executive Committee, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Volfovich is also the head of state’s authorized representative for Grodno Oblast. He took part in a discussion about the political, social, and economic situation in the region. Together with top officials of the oblast administration, defense, security, and law enforcement officers he evaluated progress of the harvesting campaign and the situation in the region.
During the meeting Aleksandr Volfovich stressed that all the resources must be mobilized as part of the harvesting campaign. It is particularly important considering current complicated weather conditions. “As I talk to agronomists, machine operators, harvester operators, and other specialists, I see that they understand the importance of this work. Every executive knows what to do. And it is the most important thing,” the official remarked.
Personnel of the State Secretariat of the Security Council were made familiar with progress of the harvesting campaign in all districts of Grodno Oblast. No serious violations were found. Efforts of defense, security, and law enforcement agencies in the region are primarily channeled into helping agrarians. First of all, into preventing law violations, fires, preventing occupational traumas, and enforcing the observance of Directive No.1.
Aleksandr Volfovich said: “While Belarus is fighting to gather in the harvest, our Western neighbors seek other battles. Some foreign politicians still think in terms of the Cold War during the period of confrontation between blocs. With their provocative statements and ill-thought actions, they are trying to whip up tension.”
“You can see for yourselves how passionately our neighbors are trying to implement tenets formulated by resolutions of the recent NATO summit in Vilnius,” the official noted. “They are doing it ahead of schedule in order to please their taskmasters across the ocean. Once again we hear statements about imaginary threats from the east. These farfetched pretexts are used to step up the militarization of Poland and the Baltic states. Warsaw said it is ready to deploy American tactical nuclear warheads in its territory. Modern types of weapons are being purchased.”
Aleksandr Volfovich remarked that the Polish army continues forming the 1st mechanized division, which will be deployed near Belarus’ western border. While making groundless speculations regarding the presence of the private military company Wagner in Belarus, Poland redeployed two reinforced mechanized battalions to the area near the border. Lithuania also intends to increase its military contingent. Vilnius has recently mentioned that U.S. army forces will remain in Lithuania till 2025. In the last two months alone Lithuania and Latvia hosted over 10 military exercises involving NATO forces. There is no doubt that all of it heats up the military and political situation in the region.
Aleksandr Volfovich went on saying: “In these conditions we examine the experience of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine in detail. We work out the tactics of modern warfare together with PMC Wagner instructors. And we don’t hide it. Everything is being done purely for defensive purposes. The same applies to the deployment of Russian tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus. On the whole, I can state with confidence that all our projections regarding activities of the NATO bloc and its individual members have been proved completely correct. Naturally, we don’t sit idle but take adequate response measures.”
