Spring is in the air! A new season means new Disney+ shows to month all through April 2023.
Spring will soon be in the air, and what better way to enjoy it than watching some TV with the windows open? Another month comes another round of movies and shows, both new and old, for us to enjoy with some popcorn. And with plenty of streaming services to choose from. Not all services have something original and new to stream on your television. If you want something new to watch, then Disney+ has you covered.
The archive of Disney+ only continues to grow. We have some more Disney+ originals being streamed throughout April, though not as many as expected. Still, we have a good lineup coming our way. The month starts with a new anime and ends with a nature documentary perfect for watching on Earth Day. So, without further ado, here are the best tv series coming in April 2023 on Disney+.
A brand-new anime titled Heavenly Delusion will be introduced to Disney+ internationally. This is an adaptation of Masakazu Ishiguro’s manga of the same name. The story takes place 15 years after some unprecedented disaster that destroys modern civilization. A group of children lives together in a facility completely cut off from the outside world, considered a hellscape. The story follows a girl named Tokio, who receives a note asking if she wants to go outside. As she struggles to understand the note and where it came from, a boy named Maru and a girl named Kiruko are traveling outside the facility. Together, they are searching for heaven. Disney+ now has an anime collection that has been added to their service. With anime like Bleach and Tatami: The Machine Blues, Heavenly Delusion will be a perfect addition to a growing collection.
A new Disney+ original series will be streaming on Apr. 5. For those who like book-to-movie/TV adaptations or sports dramas; this show will be for you. The show is based on the critically-acclaimed best-selling novel in-verse by Kwame Alexander. The basis of The Crossover is about two teenage brothers named Josh and Jordan Bell, who are widely considered basketball phenoms. It will be narrated by an adult version of Josh, who goes by the nickname Filthy McNasty. This is a coming-of-age story about these two brothers, along with their father, a former professional basketball player, and their mother, who is following her dreams. It has been a while since we have had a sports drama under the Disney name. The Crossover surely will not disappoint with its delightful cast and basketball stars as executive producers.
While season three of The Mandalorian just started, this season will end in April. Episodes 6-8 will be streaming throughout April. This third season picks up after the events of The Book of Boba Fett, with the Mandalorian Din Djarin traveling to Mandalore with Grogu to redeem himself for the transgressions of removing his helmet. With this season focusing more on the lore of Mandalorians and Din’s journey to reclaim what he had lost, we will surely see more of his tribe throughout. Plus, seeing more of Din and Grogu’s relationship develop is always a treat. Although, it is always sad to watch a season of a beloved show come to an end. Good thing The Mandalorian is confirmed for season 4 so that the series can tie in with Ahsoka and other Star Wars series.
National Geographic is back at it again with a new documentary. Following the success of Secrets of the Whales, this new miniseries will be part of an annual multipart franchise around Earth Day. Secrets of the Elephants will allow us to see a side of elephants we have never seen before. Through our screens, we will travel the globe and see different families of elephants and how their cultural behaviors vary in contrasting environments. In addition, we’ll be able to explore their nature, intelligence, and grace as animals in their own right. Finally, this series will explore how elephants are quite similar to humans. Indeed, Secrets of the Elephants will be worth watching if you wish to expand your knowledge of the world and its beautiful creatures.
Disney+ has a smaller selection of series to watch this coming April, but they each have their appeal. There is always a chance that they will add more or have certain shows stream globally. We will make sure to keep you all in the loop. With Disney pumping out more original content that stretches outside the MCU or their princess films, it is like taking a breath of that fresh spring air. So what are you most excited to see?
