Justice Clarence Thomas, who has come under criticism for failing to disclose gifts from businessman and Republican donor Harlan Crow, acknowledged accepting a Bali vacation and a trip to a California club, both in 2019. Thomas reported no new trips in 2023. Justice Kentaji Brown Jackson said she had received four concert tickets from Beyoncé valued at $3,711.84.
The disclosures showed the lucrative nature of book publishing for members of the nation’s highest judicial body, with the advance for Jackson’s forthcoming memoir making up the bulk of thay income at $893,750.00. Justices Brett Kavanaugh, Neil Gorsuch and Sonia Sotomayor also reported income from book deals.
