Attorney General Merrick Garland made it clear last week that the Justice Department intends to interfere in the 2024 presidential election. The unapologetic Biden administration hack’s decision to appoint a special counsel to investigate former President Donald Trump, his alleged efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election, and his handling of classified documents, came just three days after Trump announced his 2024 candidacy. The timing is not a coincidence.
This is the Democratic Party’s fifth consecutive attempt to manipulate the will of the people. In 2016, based on a bogus dossier commissioned by Hillary Clinton’s campaign and the Democratic National Committee, the FBI tried to portray Trump as an agent of Russia. They did this despite the fact that declassified notes taken by former CIA Director John Brennan following a July 28, 2016, meeting show he knew the allegations of Russian collusion had been manufactured by Clinton. Please note the date. The FBI opened Crossfire Hurricane, better known as the Russia collusion hoax, just two days later.
In his notes, which he later shared with former President Barack Obama , Brennan wrote: “We’re getting additional insight into Russian activities from [REDACTED]. CITE [summarizing] alleged approved by Hillary Clinton a proposal from one of her foreign policy advisers to vilify Donald Trump by stirring up a scandal claiming interference by the Russian security service.”
The FBI cannot claim ignorance either. A September 2016 CIA investigative referral sent to then-FBI Director James Comey and then-Deputy Assistant Director of Counterintelligence Peter Strzok reads: “Per FBI verbal request, CIA provides the below examples of information the CROSSFIRE HURRICANE fusion cell has gleaned to date. An exchange [REDACTED] discussing U.S. presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s approval of a plan concerning U.S. presidential candidate Donald Trump and Russian hackers hampering U.S. elections as a means of distracting the public from her use of a private email server.”
In January 2017, the FBI interviewed Igor Danchenko, dossier author Christopher Steele’s primary sub-source, who admitted the stories had been made up in a bar. But that didn’t stop then-acting Attorney General Rod Rosenstein from appointing former FBI Director Robert Mueller as special counsel to investigate then-President Trump’s alleged collusion with the Kremlin four months later. The 22-month-long Mueller investigation cast a shadow over the first two years of Trump’s presidency and loomed large over the 2018 midterm elections. Had Attorney General William Barr not intervened the following spring to bring the investigation to an end, there’s no telling how long it would have continued.
The 2020 presidential election saw additional interference. At least a dozen FBI whistleblowers have reached out to Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), ranking members of the Senate and House Judiciary Committees, respectively, to inform them that, in the months leading up to the election, bureau insiders tried to scuttle the investigation into Hunter Biden’s foreign business adventures. Their modus operandi was to label the story as Russian disinformation.
Moreover, during a lengthy and revealing interview on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast earlier this year, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg admitted Facebook suppressed circulation of the Hunter Biden laptop report after it received a warning from the FBI about potential Russian misinformation.
Zuckerberg told Rogan, “The FBI, I think, basically came to us, some folks on our team, and said, ‘Hey, just so you know, you should be on high alert. We thought that there was a lot of Russian propaganda in the 2016 election. We have it on a notice; basically, there’s about to be some kind of a dump that is similar to that, so just be vigilant.’”
And we can’t forget the letter signed by 51 former high-ranking intelligence community officials, which discredited the Hunter Biden laptop report as Russian disinformation.
Under Garland’s leadership, the corruption that began during the Obama administration has become more deeply entrenched. The DOJ’s prosecution of Jan. 6 protesters was elevated to priority status. The FBI altered its classification system to make it appear as though domestic terrorism — from MAGA Republicans, no doubt — was a major threat to the U.S.
Most notably, three months prior to the 2022 election, Garland himself ordered the FBI’s dramatic raid on Mar-a-Lago to search for classified documents Trump had removed from the White House when he left office. Although many former presidents have done the same thing, none have ever been investigated, let alone prosecuted.
Garland promised last week that his special counsel investigation into Trump will be timely. But it will no doubt stretch into 2024, thus impacting the next presidential election cycle. This is the stuff of corrupt third-world governments, not democratic republics.
However, a Republican-controlled House just might throw a monkey wrench into the DOJ’s plans. Their lineup of FBI whistleblowers and the testimony of Hunter Biden’s former business partner, Tony Bobulinski, who is “1,000% sure” that President Joe Biden is the “big guy” referred to in a damning email on his son’s abandoned laptop, may prove that the president is indeed compromised by his family’s wide-ranging influence-peddling business and is, hence, unfit to serve.
Of course, the Democratic Party will stop at nothing to prevent that from happening. But the GOP majority in the lower chamber, narrow as it is, has materially changed the battlefield.
During an interview at Fox News’s Patriot Awards last week, Bobulinski said that when people see the facts, “they’re going to be shocked.” Let’s hope he’s right.
