Stop what you’re doing and get ready for a totally miam experience, all thanks to this délicieuse list of Perth’s best French restaurants. Modern styles, traditional techniques and impressive wine lists to accompany. These restaurants are showcasing Parisian and regional French fare in all its glory.
Oui, oui, oui!
Utterly full of charm, Perth’s P’tite Ardois Bistro is like a breath of old-world Parisian air.
Tables and chairs so closely put together you become friends with your neighbouring diners. Freshly baked bread that you should not ever refuse. It has vim, and whimsy, and the food is classic in all the right ways.
The steak tartare is beautiful, the escargot garlicky and delicious. And the chocolate fondant, a decadent dream.
Ooh la la we have a crush and it’s on Mount Lawley’s Le Rebelle.
This owner operator bistro oozes intimacy, fun times and nostalgia – while still having a total Rockstar feel to it too. Spanning across three narrow tiers, this is a neighbourhood destination eatery and wine bar with a difference. The food has gotten national recognition thanks to dishes like their famed crab toast (if they dared take it off the menu we think Perth might have an actual meltdown) and their very impressive drinks list too.
Whether you’re after the oh so French steak tartare or boudin blanc, or something a bit more new age, you’ll be sure to find it at this romantica spot.
Located in the oh so beautiful Bickley Valley, Mistelle is a small French eatery overlooking the Hainault Vineyard.
It’s the very essence of a French countryside bistro: focusing on being approachable and delicious while utilising local WA produce. There’s a seasonal menu, and some pretty exciting things happening like their Monday test kitchen which is their opportunity to experiment with new recipes at a very reasonable price of $50 per person.
But their standard menu is also equally exciting, with incredible dishes such as their confit duck leg with braised cabbage, the cured salmon with apple, cucumber and horseradish and lemon bombe Alaska.
Bon Appetit!
Cosy up in the dining room, or get some fresh air with your French food in the garden or on the verandah at Angel’s House in Fremantle.
Located in an 1880 heritage building, these guys really know how to showcase their French culinary skills in the most impressive way. Take delight in dishes such as onion soup, double baked cheese souffle, escargot and bouef bourguignon.
It’s honestly a beautiful restaurant, and one you’ll find yourself telling all your friends and family about.
Fine French dining is easily associated with Chez Pierre on Stirling Highway in Nedlands.
First opening in 2007, Chef Pierre studied cookery at the Cordon Bleu in France which is evident in the dishes that this venue continues to impress diners with to this day. Plump Shark Bay scallops with a fricassee of cauliflower, seafood crepe, or foie gras prepared two ways.
The menu is diverse but steeped in tradition, with the French roots respected every step of the way.
Bistro Guillaume can be found at Crown Perth, off the casino floor with the other dining options.
Overlooking the pool, it’s a picturesque provincial dining location to sit back with a glass of champagne while savouring all the venue has to offer. We’ll take this moment to gush about their profiteroles with vanilla bean ice-cream and warm chocolate sauce (yes oh yes).
Or their showstopping souffles which change flavour on occasion from passionfruit to cherry to other seasonal delights. And don’t forget about their Paris mash which is buttery, silky and so decadent it becomes the new potato benchmark in your life.
A concept French restaurant in Mount Lawley, French Accent combine their namesake cuisine with an interactive experience to really engage all five of your senses in the dining process.
The menu is crafted carefully with a scientific angle, which means dishes seemingly simple such as pea and ham soup actually surprise you by coming to the table in a smoky box with bacon to elevate the entire flavour profile.
It’s a bit of fun, and something different to the normal French offering.
