MINSK, 8 August (BelTA) – There is a steady positive trend in trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and the Chinese city of Chongqing, Belarusian Deputy Economy Minister Tatiana Brantsevich said during a meeting with Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chongqing Municipal People’s Congress Qu Qian, BelTA learned from the press service of the Economy Ministry.
“There is a steady positive trend in trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and the city of Chongqing. Belarusian agricultural products and potash fertilizers are in great demand in China. Domestic enterprises are set to increase supplies to China; the transport ministries are working on an effective regular container service,” Tatiana Brantsevich noted.
According to her, the powerful mechanical engineering industry of Chongqing is of interest to Belarusian industrial enterprises in the context of modernization of production facilities using modern Chinese technologies, setting up new joint automotive assembly plants, importing components and auto parts. An equally promising area of cooperation is healthcare. A project to set up a research center and production facilities in traditional Chinese medicine the China-Belarus industrial park Great Stone is in the works.
“The traditionally strong ties and extensive experience of practical cooperation between Belarus and the city of Chongqing contribute towards the deepening of regional cooperation between our countries,” the deputy minister stressed.
