Breitling launches Navitimer watches created with Singapore Airlines and KrisShop
The two limited editions also mark the 70th anniversary of the Navitimer pilot’s watch this year.
One of the world’s most recognisable pilot’s watches, the story of the Navitimer began in 1952, when Willy Breitling was asked by the US Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA) to create a new chronograph for its members. The third-generation business owner adapted the original logarithmic slide rule of Breitling’s 1940s Chronomat to aviation purposes, and integrated it into a rotating bezel that was surrounded by small beads for ease of turning.
Since then, the Navitimer has been used by generations of pilots, who appreciate the fact that its circular slide rule can help in making flight calculations such as average speed, distance travelled, fuel consumption, rate of climb or descent, and so on. In recent years, Breitling has further flexed its aviation muscle by creating Navitimer watches that pay tribute to classic airlines such as the now-defunct Pan Am (Pan American World Airways), or are made in partnership with national carriers such as Swiss International Air Lines and Etihad Airways.

Today, to the undoubted delight of the many Breitling fans on our shores (or in our skies) — and just in time for National Day — the brand unveils its first-ever collaboration with Singapore Airlines (SIA) and its travel retailer, KrisShop. The collection comprises two watches, each made in a limited edition of 100 pieces: The Navitimer B01 Chronograph 41 Singapore Airlines Limited Edition and the Navitimer Automatic 38 Singapore Airlines Limited Edition. They are both exclusively available on KrisShop, under the retailer’s Batik Label concept store, which specialises in collaborations bearing SIA’s signature floral motif.
While the dials of both timepieces are distinguished by SIA’s signature shade of blue, the Navitimer B01 Chronograph 41 features the SIA logo on its crown while the Navitimer Automatic 38 has a caseback engraved with the airline’s batik design.
More on the differences between the two models: The Navitimer B01 Chronograph 41 is a classic Navitimer with its circular slide rule, three chronograph subdials, baton indexes and notched bezel. It features the refreshed Navitimer design that was introduced this year, including a flattened slide rule and domed crystal that creates a more streamlined-looking profile. This 41mm steel watch is powered by the Breitling Manufacture Calibre 01, a self-winding chronometer movement with a five-year warranty.
In a smaller size, and with more of a lifestyle rather than tool-centric focus, the Navitimer Automatic 38 in steel does away with the chronograph function. It is powered by the self-winding, ETA-based Breitling 17 movement and comes with a two-year warranty. Both timepieces come with a steel bracelet, as well as a caseback engraving that reads “One of 100”.
Chris Pok, CEO of KrisShop, says, “We’ve always taken pride in being a heritage-rich, local label, and feel strongly about bringing our crafts and capabilities to the rest of the world. The output of this collaboration epitomises the distinct traits associated with the wider Singapore brand, which include quality, expertise and innovation. We are honoured to work with Breitling on this project and are excited to see how it resonates with our local and international customers.”
