New York Brownstone Featured in ‘Home Alone 2’ Asks $6.7 Million
A Manhattan brownstone that was featured in “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York” is for sale with a listing price of $6.7 million. In the movie, the townhouse belongs to the uncle of Kevin McCallister (played by Macaulay Culkin), and its facade can be spotted in the scene where Kevin gets revenge on the pair of bandits. Home Prices in the Biggest U.S. Cities Rose for Nine Straight Months
Home prices in the 20 biggest U.S. metros rose for the ninth month in a row and hit a record high, due to a persistent lack of homes for sale. The S&P CoreLogic Case-Shiller 20-city house price index rose a seasonally adjusted 0.6% in October compared to the previous month. Dec. 26 Is the Slowest Day for Home Sales All Year—at Least in California
The day after Christmas, Dec. 26, is the slowest sales day of the year in California, according to data from Attom Data Solutions. The company has tracked closed transactions by day of the year between 2013 and 2022. The day after Christmas averaged 4,719 closings over 10 years, 62% below the average sales day in California, which saw an average of 12,270 closings over the 10 years. In addition, those who did finalize a home purchase on Dec. 26 paid less, splashing out an average of $390,000, which 19% below the 10-year average, $480,000. SFGate
Australian Home Featured in Action Flick Starring the Rock Sells for A$15.2 million
A trophy home in Australia’s Gold Coast that featured in an action blockbuster starring Dwayne “the Rock” Johnson has sold for A$15.2 million (US$10.3 million). Known as Te Moana, the sprawling property on Monaco Street was used in several scenes for Johnson’s 2015 film “San Andreas” and last changed hands for A$12.5 million in August 2020.
