Part of a busy road will be shut from today for an entire week for works to take place.
The A20 London Road, in Maidstone, will be closed between the junctions with Buckland Hill and Queen’s Road until Sunday, February 19.
South East Water will be connecting a new housing development to its network.
The alternative route for vehicles travelling north is via A20 London Road, A26 Tonbridge Road, B2246 Fountain Lane, Hermitage Lane.
For vehicles travelling south it is via A20 London Road, B2246 Hermitage Lane, Fountain Lane, A26 Tonbridge Road, A20 Terrace Road.
Adam Newbury, distribution manager at South East Water, said: “Closing roads is a last resort, and essential to keep our workforce and road users safe.
“We always work closely with local highways authorities to plan roadworks and diversion routes, to minimise the effect on motorists and residents.”
