On Tuesday, ByteDance’s cloud service Volcano Engine released a series of cloud products aimed at helping new AI ventures train large models. Tan Dai, the president of Volcano Engine, told media outlet Yicai that they will not be developing their own large model but will serve domestic AI startups looking to build a ChatGPT alternative. The newly launched products from the company behind TikTok include a machine learning platform, which it claims can support the training of multi-billion parameter models while saving up to 70% of computing costs.
