CASPER, Wyo. (Wyoming News Now) – Friday June 10, kicked off the first day of Central Wyoming Shooters 25th annual Machine Gun and Cannon Shoot. This shoot is held so that military vets and gun enthusiasts alike can come and show off their arsenal and talk about the history of guns.
“So these guys out here, they’re like historians. They just like coming out and teaching people about these firearms,” said Event Coordinator Quinton Miller.
The event isn’t only for showing off though. It is open to the public and can teach folks how to properly and safely handle firearms. The Central Wyoming Shooters know the importance of teaching these safety techniques to citizens.
Another important aspect of this shoot is that some of the proceeds will go to support Wyoming’s Hunting With Heroes program. Hunting With Heroes has worked with the Cannon Shoot for the past 4 years.
“Hunting with heroes got involved to help with ticket sales. Help with maintaining the ground and to help with the clean up. We do all we can to help raise money for our vets,” said Rod Palmer, one of the leaders with Wyoming’s Hunting With Heroes.
The event will open Saturday and Sunday mornings at 8:00am and Saturday night will see the “Mad Minute” shoot where all those on the shooting line will fire tracer rounds into the night at barrels of oil and dynamite. This will be followed by fireworks. The event is open to the public and will cost $10 for those over 10 years old.
