Pay-TV network Charlton has nabbed the domestic media rights to the Israeli Premier League in a deal reportedly worth considerably more than the total sum of the league’s existing TV contracts.
The broadcaster has acquired the rights to all three packages on offer for the next four-season rights cycle from 2016 to 2020.
Reports in Israel say Charlton, which currently holds one of four rights packages offered by the league, has agreed to pay up to ILS135 million (US$34.6 million) per season for the exclusive rights.
The Israeli Premier League reputedly earns ILS42.5 million (US$11 million) per year from its four current domestic deals, which are due to expire at the end of the 2015-16 season.
Earlier this week, Charlton retained the Israeli rights to the English Premier League in a new deal that will run until 2019.
