TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Citayam Fashion Week, a current popular youth gathering in public open spaces of Dukuh Atas on Jalan Sudirman, Central Jakarta, has recently seized the public spotlight. The young people who are mostly teenagers hail from the outskirts of Jakarta, such as Citayam and Bojonggede of Bogor, as well as Depok.
Depok Regional Development Planning and Research Development Agency Head, Dadang Wihana, said that Depok has city squares and 55 public parks as the place to gather around for the residents, including teenagers, and express themselves.
“There is the Depok City Square and sports halls (GOR) on Jalan Boulevard, GDC which provide complete facilities for residents’ activities,” said Dadang in Depok, Thursday, July 18, 2022, as quoted from Antara.
“We are planning [to establish] several public spots as directed by the Mayor, including the youth market and some places for events that accommodate youth activities,” he added.
Dadang refused to comment on the public assumption that Depok lacks public spaces since the viral movement often mentions the city. The Citayam Fashion Week has become a popular term in Dukuh Atas following the gatherings of SCBD teenagers. SCBD is short for Sudirman, Citayam, Bojonggede, and Depok.
“Let’s examine it based on the data, rather than make a response based on issues,” he said.
However, Dadang emphasized that the Depok city government is ready to facilitate any activities of the young people.
