KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 9): Coca-Cola Malaysia is working with AEON Co (M) Bhd and plastic product processing and manufacturing company Hiroyuki Industries to launch a polyethlylene terephthalate (PET) bottle collection and recycling campaign in six AEON malls in Johor.
The Recycling Fantastic Campaign is part of Coca-Cola’s World Without Waste vision, where the global company aims to tackle the plastic waste problem through three key areas — design, collect and partner.
From Dec 10, 2022 to Feb 26, 2023, members of the public can exchange PET bottles in the six AEON malls in exchange for AEON points and Coca-Cola products. For every 1kg of PET bottles donated, the public can receive 300 AEON points deposited to their AEON membership.
The bottles will be sent to Hiroyuki Industries to be recycled and turned into new bottles. The company built the first bottle-to-bottle food grade recycling plant in the region, according to Nakata Hiroyuki, its founder and managing director.
The six AEON malls are AEON Mall Bandar Dato’ Onn, AEON Mall Bukit Indah, AEON Permas Jaya, AEON Taman Universiti, AEON Mall Tebrau City and AEON Mall Kulaijaya.
