Costco is bringing back diced onions as a topping option for their hot dogs, and many members are taking to social media to celebrate. As seen on TikTok, shoppers are ecstatic that the wholesale retailer is reviving the beloved food court item.
Diced onions were removed as offered toppings in 2020, after wholesale retailer locations closed their food courts and free sample stations due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As fans know, even after Costco resumed food court operations and began selling hot dogs in stores again, these toppings still weren’t available. (Until now, that is!)
In a viral TikTok video shared earlier this month, creator Laura Lamb of @costcohotfinds uploaded a video that showed herself eating a hot dog with diced onions. Fans in the comment section seemed more than eager to express their joy.
“You can top that $1.50 hot dog with mustard, ketchup, relish and onions,” Lamb said in her video, which has now been viewed over one million times. One commenter wrote, “I stopped going when they dropped onions,” as another added, “Finally!”
Someone else chimed in, writing, “That’s good news,” as one other commented, “omg this just made my heart happy.” Another deemed this Costco food court news to be “the moment I’ve been waiting for.”
The onions are returning soon to the PNW and hopefully to all costcos soon.

In an email sent to FOX Business this month, Costco Wholesale confirmed that “diced onions are returning soon,” but didn’t reveal any more information as to when. Customers, as seen on social media however, have already been spotting the topping at their local stores.
According to a viral Reddit post around this time, one user (@Hairy_Square_4658) identified themselves as a Costco employee and uploaded a pinned Food Court Department memo that reads, “Condiment Update: Diced Onions Returning,” which has been “Available to Members Upon Request” in the Pacific Northwest.
As other commenters in the thread noted, diced onions seemed to have returned to Costco food courts in the following cities and states; Mission Valley, California, Houston, Texas, Tucson, Arizona, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
We’ll be on the lookout for more!
