The pandemic situation in the Grand Duchy appears to be stabilising, although the number of people dying with the disease keeps climbing.
The number of deaths over the weekend may have sounded frightening: 7 people who were Covid positive died between Friday and Sunday.
It’s important to put this number in perspective, however. Most of the recent Covid deaths were older people who died with, rather than of, Covid.

77.5 percent of the Luxembourg population over five are fully vaccinated. Following the more stringent measures earlier this year – 3G at workplaces, 2G+ at restaurants and leisure facilities – the number of newly vaccinated increased.
A total of 1,254,229 vaccine doses have been administered up to Sunday. Around 477,000 people have been jabbed once, just over 424,000 have received two doses and just over 353,000 also got a booster.
While the number of people dying of or with Covid keeps climbing (6 people the weekend before last, 7 this weekend), the pandemic situation in Luxembourg seems to be stabilising and the Omicron wave may have crested.
Still, hospitals remain cautious and vaccination remains an important tool in the fight against the disease.
