Days Of Our Lives fans have been left fuming as the programme’s final ever episode on NBC, before its move to Peacock, was interrupted by King Charles III’s speech.
After 73 years as heir to the throne, King Charles addressed the nation for the first time today.
His televised speech comes less than 24 hours after the death of the Queen was confirmed, after her death aged 96 was announced shortly after 6.30pm on Thursday.
While the nation mourns, tributes have been pouring in from celebrities and politicians around the world, while broadcasters have announced scheduling changes.
And it’s not just from the United Kingdom, as across the pond, NBC interrupted a regular programme to broadcast the speech.
But Days of Our Lives fans weren’t happy when they were left with the ultimate cliffhanger as the final NBC episode was cut short.

Gabi (Camila Banus) was mid-sentence, saying: ‘But, you know, even thought,’ before the moment was interrupted.
‘So disrespectful of NBC to interrupt Days of our Lives on its last day on regular tv for non breaking news! Completely disrespectful! Cable news exists for a reason! #DAYS #DOIL,’ one viewer wrote.
Another penned: ‘This final episode of Days of Our Lives to ever air on NBC is disappointing. We aren’t British. Give it a rest!’
Nothing like having an NBC News Special Report during Days of Our Lives on the last day of Days being on air ð
@nbcdays How shameful NBC didn’t show the last Days of our lives episode on the channel due to the King of England’s speech. Really. The soap that has been on NBC for over 50+ years and you interrupt it. it’s on every other damn channel. I’m glad Days of moving to peacock

So we don’t get to see days of our lives because of the queen

I’m confused about why you aren’t showing Days of our Lives. Enough with this Royal family stuff. We are not British!

The wildly popular soap opera, set in the fictional town of Salem, has been on our screens for nearly six decades, first premiering on the channel in 1965.
The move to Peacock was announced in August, as Mark Lazarus, chairman of NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, said of the changes in a statement via Variety: ‘This programming shift benefits both Peacock and NBC and is reflective of our broader strategy to utilize our portfolio to maximize reach and strengthen engagement with viewers.
‘With a large percentage of the Days of Our Lives audience already watching digitally, this move enables us to build the show’s loyal fanbase on streaming while simultaneously bolstering the network daytime offering with an urgent, live programming opportunity for partners and consumers.’
In his speech today, King Charles began: ‘I speak to you today with feelings of profound sorrow. Throughout her life, Her Majesty The Queen – my beloved Mother – was an inspiration and example to me and to all my family, and we owe her the most heartfelt debt any family can owe to their mother; for her love, affection, guidance, understanding and example.
‘Queen Elizabeth was a life well lived; a promise with destiny kept and she is mourned most deeply in her passing. That promise of lifelong service I renew to you all today.
‘Alongside the personal grief that all my family are feeling, we also share with so many of you in the United Kingdom, in all the countries where The Queen was Head of State, in the Commonwealth and across the world, a deep sense of gratitude for the more than 70 years in which my Mother, as Queen, served the people of so many nations.’
