Dublin, California, Sees Largest Annual Drop in House Prices in the U.S.
The northern California city of Dublin has seen house prices fall faster than anywhere else in the U.S., according to a study from financial planning firm SmartAsset, which analyzed fluctuation in property values from May 2022 to May 2023. Dublin prices dropped a drastic 15.4% over that time period, shaving off $230,000 over the year for a typical home value of about $1.3 million. Another Setback for U.S. Buyers as Mortgage Rates Rise Again
Mortgage rates rose again this week, bad news for Americans seeking to upgrade or buy their first home. The average rate on a 30-year fixed mortgage ticked up to 6.9%, up from 6.81% a week ago, according to data released Thursday by mortgage buyer Freddie Mac. Denver’s Real Estate Market Slowing Amid High Interest Rates
Interest rates are cooling Denver’s real estate market, according to a report by the Denver Metro Association of Realtors. “Definitely things have slowed up a lot,” said agent Christine Gulley with Colorado Home Realty. The association’s data shows sales volume dropped 18% in July compared to the same time last year, when the market had already slowed from its pandemic high.
