The panellist showed her unwavering support for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex in the wake of Harry’s bombshell claim of a physical altercation with William
oose Women was swept into a furious debate on Thursday’s episode as the panel discussed Prince Harry’s bombshell claim that his brother “knocked him to the floor” during a physical altercation.
In a leaked extract of his highly anticipated autobiography Spare, published by the Guardian newspaper, Harry alleged the confrontation took place at his London home in 2019 and left him with a visible injury to his back after the Prince of Wales grabbed him by the collar and ripped his necklace before knocking him to the floor.
Harry further claimed William had called Meghan Markle “difficult”, “rude” and “abrasive” – comments which the younger brother said parroted “the press narrative” about his wife.
In the wake of the claims, ITV panellist Denise Welch shared her unwavering support of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex amid pushback from fellow presenter Jane Moore.
Moore said it was “hurtful” to read that such accusations had been made in “public”, before her co-star refuted her point.

The former Coronation Street star said: “Why shouldn’t Harry say his peace, Jane? I think he’s had to move away from a family – they’ve done it behind his back.”

Moore then insisted Harry was only making the allegations public in order “to make money” as she cut across Welch.
As their debate upped in volume, Welch fired: “Jane, you talked to me about interrupting…” and continued with her point.
She said: “The fact is, the Royal Family make quite a bit of money themselves.
“They have been leaking stories. We know they have. As soon as Meghan was seen as the People’s Princess, that was game over, because William and Kate have to remain in those positions.
“Meghan was in those rooms on the global stage with charities – she didn’t do that just when she got married to Harry.
“I think do what you like. Tell your story because I think it’s absolutely the worst thing that’s happened to them.”
After finishing her point, the studio audience erupted into applause as she playfully picked up a piece of paper to fan herself.

Once the applause died down, Moore added: “Tell your story but not sell your story. Is it blind support or do you accept that they’ve made some mistakes?”
While Welch agreed everybody makes mistakes, she added: “But I don’t see anything wrong in him getting his wife out of this country.
“When they said they wanted privacy, they wanted privacy from other peoples’ narrative, not from their own story.
“This is the only way they’ve got to tell it. I’m team Harry and Meghan.”
