TikTok has become one of America’s most popular apps, even as lawmakers try to ban it. The New York Times wants to learn more about the company behind this powerful platform and the people who use it.
My name is Sapna Maheshwari and I’m the beat reporter covering TikTok for The Times. I’m looking to hear from people who are connected to the company in various ways, including:
Current and former employees. We are eager to learn more about the relationship between TikTok and its parent company, the Chinese app maker ByteDance. We are also interested in knowing more about how TikTok thinks about its business in the United States, from ad sales to e-commerce, and how the company moderates content on the platform.
People who use TikTok. How is it affecting your lives? If you’re a parent or educator, how are you seeing young people use the app? Are you using it?
Those in unique communities on TikTok and people who are making money from the platform in unexpected ways.
We will not publish any part of your submission, including your personal information, without contacting you first. We may follow up with you with more questions. If you’d like to share a story with us anonymously, you can write to us at nytimes.com/tips.
