Skyscraper Architect A. Eugene Kohn, Co-Founder of Kohn Pedersen Fox, Dies at 92
Architect A. Eugene Kohn, co-founder of the New York City-based firm Kohn Pedersen Fox (KPF), has died of cancer at the age of 92. Kohn led KPF to become one of the world’s leading firms, credited with 250 skyscrapers, including six of the world’s 12 tallest towers, such as the 1,614-foot Shanghai World Financial Center and the International Commerce Centre in Hong Kong, rising to 1,587 feet. “Gene was known throughout the architectural world for his ability to promote the services of KPF,” said Kohn Pedersen Fox co-founder William Pedersen. “As valuable as that has been to the growth of our firm, his value within the firm, counseling our staff, has been even greater.” Dezeen
Surfing Paradise in Queensland on Offer for A$2 Million
Surf’s up at Flow Residences, a A$74 million (US$49 million) condo project on Rainbow Bay in Coolangatta, Queensland, where champion surfers Joel Parkinson and Mark Richards have purchased pads. Palm Beach County Condo Sales Totaled $255 Million in February
Condo sales in Palm Beach County totaled $255 million from 581 deals last month, up from $237 million and 506 transactions in January, according to MLS data from Redfin.The highest-priced residence sold in February cost $7.4 million, while the median price was $250,000, the figures showed. 15,000 Homes Planned for Hong Kong Dockyard
A waterfront dockyard in Hong Kong is set to become the city’s second-largest housing development, a project helmed by CK Hutchison Holdings, the flagship company of Hong Kong’s wealthiest man, Li Ka-shing. Dubbed Hongkong United Dockyards Limited (HUD), the proposal includes 15,075 residences on the site, plus adjacent government land in Tsing Yi. “Under Hong Kong’s current land scarcity situation, HUD believes large-scale industrial land and idled government land can be part of a solution to alleviate Hong Kong’s housing needs,” according to a statement from HUD.
