Based on data from the Automotive Research & Testing Center (ARTC), the global automotive market’s sales revenue has yet to fully recover to its pre-pandemic levels. In comparison to 2021, the global automotive market experienced a decline of 0.6% in 2022. However, the electric vehicle (EV) market paints a contrasting picture. In 2022, EV sales revenue surpassed ten million units, marking a remarkable 55% increase from 2021. This surge in EV sales accounted for approximately 13% of the total light vehicle sales, showcasing a significant growth trend in the industry.
Initiated by the European Union, the movement to prohibit the sale of fuel-powered vehicles and the introduction of regulations centered on achieving net-zero carbon emissions in Western nations likely stand as the primary drivers behind this trend. Taiwan, in a similar stride, has embraced this paradigm shift, aligning itself with the global momentum towards net-zero emissions. The island is actively championing the comprehensive electrification of government and public transportation vehicles by 2030. Furthermore, Taiwan has set its sights on electrifying all newly introduced two and four-wheeler vehicles for commercial sale by the year 2040.
As a result, driven by the growing demand for EV-related products, CENS’ exhibition experience in the first half of 2023 clearly illustrates that, despite ongoing post-pandemic recovery efforts, exhibitions centered around auto parts have witnessed an unforeseen surge in popularity.
