U.K. House Prices Are Now £7,000 Below Last September’s Peak
The average house price in the U.K. was £286,000 (US$368,381) in May, which was £6,000 higher than a year ago but £7,000 lower than the market’s most recent peak in September. House price inflation in May was also significantly lower than it was last summer. Though property values increased 1.9% annually, it pales to the 14% annual growth logged in July 2022 , according to the Office for National Statistics. This marked the seventh month in a row that house price inflation slowed in the U.K. The ONS also reported that private rental prices in the U.K. increased 5.1% annually in June, the biggest annual percentage change since records started in January 2016. Luxury Home Sales in Toronto Drop 34% Annually
Home sales over C$4 million (US$3.05 million) in Toronto are down 34% year over year, according to a report from Sotheby’s International Realty Canada. During the first six months of the year, 157 homes on the Multiple Listings Service in this price range sold, and five properties sold for more than C$10 million, down from seven during the same time last year. Home sales priced at C$1 million or more declined 27%, affected by high interest rates and economic uncertainty. Don Kottick, president and CEO of Sotheby’s Canada said that though these numbers show a decline in luxury sales, the market is better than it appears, with more sales being done privately as opposed to being listed on the MLS. Former NBA Player Jonas Jerebko Relists Michigan Mansion
Swedish basketball player Jonas Jerebko has relisted his massive mansion in Oakland Township, Michigan, this time asking $4 million. Previously, the former NBA forward listed the home in 2018 for $3.1 million, reducing the price to $2.7 million in 2019. The more than 13,000-square-foot home has since been renovated, offering a brand-new kitchen with double islands and a primary suite with a fireplace, a spacious walk-in closet, and a bathroom with two vanities and a deep tub.
